About this event

Klasey Consulting is partnering with Lincoln Families to bring this training Helping System-Involved Transitional Age Youth Navigate Relationships, Dating and Sex after Sexual Abuse to Alameda, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras providers.Trauma can impact one’s understanding and experience of intimacy, and given the high rates of sexual abuse amongst foster youth, it’s important that social service providers are equipped with the skills and knowledge to talk about relationships, dating and sex after sexual abuse. Despite how common this can be amongst sexual abuse survivors, it is often not addressed in services. In this training, the trainer will discuss how trauma impacts one’s relationship with sex and how to support transitional age youth in developing a healthier understanding and experience of sex.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to identify at least one way sexual abuse impacts how one views intimacy.
  • Participants will be able to identify at least one strategy to support a sexual abuse survivor who has a trigger while engaging in sexual activity.
  • Participants will be able to identify at least one way to support transitional age youth in developing healthier views of relationships.

Please note that in order to register for these FREE trainings your organization must directly work with foster, adoptive or probation involved children, youth and their families in Alameda, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras only. Caregivers, including resource families, who serve youth in the above-mentioned counties are also eligible. Participants outside of these areas aren't eligible and will not receive the zoom link.

The training will be facilitated by Dr. Kaitlyn Saulman of Klasey Consulting LLC. To learn more about Klasey Consulting, visit www.klaseyconsulting.com
