It is important that any person feels capable of achieving the goals they have for their life. Regardless if those goals are within their relationships, focused on their wellness, or related to some type of achievement, the hope is that clinicians are able to support their client’s goal attainment. This training reviews adaptations to CBT interventions (e.g., goal clarification, problem solving, and assertiveness skills training) that can enhance a client’s sense of agency and control in their daily life. Also, this training discusses how clinicians can remain respectful of cultural stressors that may complicate goal attainment.
Objectives: Attendees who participate in this training will:
- Utlize strategies for creatively and flexibly assessing how much agency and control clients feel they have within their daily lives
- Learn how to conceptualize how cultural stress can undermine a client’s overall sense of agency and control
- Learn how to implement evidence-based interventions to help clients discover, expand, and maintain their sense of agency and control within their lives
Full attendance is required to obtain CE credit. (Please confirm your state accepts CE from APA approved CE sponsors.)
