Are you interested in exploring foods and recipes of the past? Would you like to learn

historically-accurate cooking techniques? Does cooking over an open fire appeal to you?

Then sign up today for this HEARTH COOKING WORKSHOP and learn how to cook like our ancestors did!

Step back in time and experience the art of open-hearth cooking! This full-immersion 18th-century hearth cooking class takes place in an authentically restored colonial kitchen, where history comes alive through fire, flavor, and tradition. Under the guidance of an experienced historical cook and fire handler, you’ll learn authentic techniques for building and managing a cooking fire; handling period utensils; and preparing authentic early American dishes over an open flame.

Together, participants will prepare six authentic recipes drawn from 17th, 18th and early 19th century sources—roasted meat, vegetable dishes, lush green salad, fresh made cheese, decorated cornbread, and apple pie for dessert! Each recipe will showcase the flavors of the 18th century. As the day unfolds, the aroma of roasting, baking, and simmering will fill the restored brick kitchen, leading up to a hearty shared meal .

This program is more than a class—it’s an unforgettable journey into the past, where history, hands-on skills, and delicious food come together for a truly unique experience.
