Hazardous Materials Incident Commander (CSTI)

January 8-9, 2026
This 2 day course provides students the knowledge, skills, and tools to assume command of an emergency response to a hazardous materials incident. Emphasis is placed on hazard assessment, risk management, legal and regulatory compliance, coordination of multi-agency responses, implementation of protective actions, and the demobilization/termination phase of a hazmat event.
Instructional methods include lectures, case studies, tabletop exercises, scenario-based decision making, interactive group activities, and written assessments. The training is designed to align with both California requirements (CSTI / Cal OES) and federal HAZWOPER/OSHA standards.
Prerequisite: HazMat FRO
