THE TALENT
Hayden Jones is the self-acclaimed Prince of The Houston Underworld. His father wanted him to be anything but a musician but in spite he wanders this earth on the fringes of reality, serenading listeners until their hearts content or ear drums ruptured.
In Hayden’s narcissistic delusion he claims to have invented a new genre he calls “Psych Swing”, blending urbane styles of the 1920s swing era with cavernous and wild moods of 1960s Garage.
Jones spends half his time seeking validation from the opposite sex at local coffee shops and the other half exercising is unrivaled messiah complex serenading the elderly at Houston retirement homes.
What’s left of his busy and demanding schedule he spends trying to sit in with the Monday night Jazz band at Avant, claiming he’s “finally ready”. Though still unsuccessful in this endeavor Jones assured us in a recent interview he has “no plans of giving anytime soon”.
THE BAR
Opened in November 2020, Cowboy Surfer is a casual bar in Memorial City, Houston keeping its namesake culture alive through drinks, eats, live music and art.
