Want to know the secret to getting kids excited about vegetables? Let them cook with you.
Summit Ranch is partnering with K-State Research and Extension to bring you Harvest Bites—a family cooking class designed to make seasonal cooking fun, educational, and totally doable.
No cooking experience needed. Just bring curiosity and an appetite.
What makes this class special:
- Research-backed recipes and techniques from K-State Extension
- Age-appropriate tasks so everyone contributes
- Simple seasonal recipes you'll actually make at home
- Expert tips for less-stressful family cooking time
- Fresh, local Kansas ingredients
What to expect: You'll spend 1.5 hours cooking alongside your child with guidance from K-State Extension educators. Everyone gets hands-on time with real tasks—no one's just watching. You'll leave with new skills, recipes you can recreate at home, and maybe even a kid who asks to help with dinner.
Who should come: Parents/caregivers and kids ages 8 and up. Younger siblings welcome to observe but must be supervised by an adult not participating in the cooking.
What's included: All ingredients, equipment, instruction, and the meal you prepare together.
