Harmony of the Planets: A Contemplative Geometry Workshop
Overview
Dive into the world of sacred geometry in this introspective end-of-year workshop exploring and paying homage to the beauty and harmony of the planets.
In ancient times, the significance of the planets ranged from timekeeping and angriculture to mythology, divinity and medicine. Qualities of the planets and their influence were deeply studied and understood. While times have definately changed, we need only to pause to recognise the profound impact of the sun and moon on our daily lives. From regulating time, tide and temperature to influencing our moods, emotions and therefore actions.
This meditative drawing class will commence with an introductory slideshow before we utilise the compass and pencil to explore sun-earth-moon relationships and significant numbers. We will then utlise the blueprints we create to compose a beautiful planetary artwork.
What is Contemplative Geometry?
Contemplative geometry is the holistic study of the relationships between numbers, shapes, and patterns as they occur in nature and as applied and revered in sacred art and architecture across cultures around the world. It emphasises the underlying universal language and fundamental principals within and around us. The practice of drawing with a compass is an age-old practice known and necessary for our ancestors. It can be a transformative practice as it touches a primordial place in us. Sessions are held in a restful and contemplative environment and are an opportunity to slow down and enjoy the process of connecting to primordial shapes and patterns.
