This training covers harm reduction and abstinence approaches to substance use and co-occurring challenges. It is provided for anyone seeking to learn about these approaches for themselves or for resource referrals to others. It includes detailed information about substances such as opioids, fentanyl hallucinogens, and methamphetamine.
From this training, attendees may learn what to look for in programs offering harm reduction and abstinence treatment services. They may also learn to recognize certain signs of substance use challenges and to value the use of home drug testing equipment and Naloxone distribution programs.
Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists (MPSS) who complete this 7-hour training may obtain 6 Continuing Education Units towards their recertification as MPSS.
Held on the second Monday of each month. The full training time includes two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute meal break.
