You’re already a creator: perhaps you write, draw, make beautiful things. Maybe you’re a writer, a choreographer, a visual artist, a sculptor. You’ve got a manuscript of some kind you’re trying to get down on paper, or a project you want to complete, or an idea to integrate multiple modes of expression into a single production or practice. You’ve written something and want to get it published but have no idea where to even begin that process. And finding the time to do all of it in this modern life is a challenge.
Or maybe you know you what you want to do, but you keep getting stuck. False starts, mushy middles, and fade-outs dominate your work, preventing you from making the progress you want.
Do these dilemmas sound familiar? Most of us go through them at some point or another, but maybe we don’t have to. Join master teacher Angélique Jamail (an author, artist, and choreographer) for a Creative Happy Hour once a week to trouble-shoot whatever you’re working on and get some work time in. Our sprints will allow you to write or draw or develop or make whatever you want or need to, in a friendly and supportive environment with low stakes and even lower pressure.
This is not a workshop. It’s not a class. You won’t be given prompts (unless you ask for one) and won’t have to produce anything for formal critique. There’s no specific homework. Just show up with your project, your questions, and whatever snack or beverage you want for a one-hour Zoom session to start your week off with a creative, nurturing vibe.
Each session will adhere to a basic structure:
· trouble-shooting with an expert in which you can get your own questions answered or learn from others’ questions
· a 20-25-minute sprint in which everyone works quietly on whatever they want to work on
· a short break to chat in case any new questions have come up
· one more 15-20-minute sprint
You’ll be amazed by how much you can accomplish in 20 focused minutes!
All skill levels welcome.
