Hands-On Indigo Dyeing : Ossabaw Island Indigo Day Trips
Overview
In the late 18th century Ossabaw Island was a working indigo plantation. Indigo still grows on Ossabaw Island's north end today.
Join us for a daytrip on Ossabaw. We will share with you the history of indigo, teach you how to create our own dye vats and guide us through the dyeing process. All workshop participants will receive a custom designed t-shirt to dye. Please bring your own natural fabric or yarn that you would like to dye indigo blue!
Fees include, round trip transportation from Delegal Creek Marina to Ossabaw Island’s North End; indigo workshop, t-shirt. This trip is designed for adults and for children age 12 and over. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult.
