Murray’s is thrilled to welcome our friends at Dandelion Chocolate for a one-of-a-kind class never before offered at Murray’s! Come join us for an evening of hands-on chocolate making, tasting, and learning.

We’ll start by tasting a variety of roasted nibs, working in groups to make our batches of single-origin or blended dark chocolate. From there, we’ll dive right into Dandelion’s techniques for flavor development and production. We’ll talk about single-origin chocolate, how it’s best paired with cheese (complete with a chocolate and cheese tasting, of course!), and prepare cocoa beans for you to make into chocolate at home.

You’ll leave with cocoa beans to make into chocolate, as well as your very own homemade chocolate! You’ll also leave with a copy of Dandelion’s new book—“Making Chocolate: From Bean to Bar to S'more.” There will be unlimited pours of our house red and sparkling wines throughout class, and non-alcoholic substitutions will be available.

While content is geared toward adults, guests aged 14-17 are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory in San Francisco that makes chocolate using only two ingredients—cocoa beans and cane sugar. Best known for their single origin bars, Dandelion strives to bring out the natural nuances of cocoa beans from different equatorial regions around the world, and to build good, long-lasting relationships with the producers who grow and ferment the beans they buy.

For the past two years, the folks behind Dandelion have been compiling everything they've learned into the first complete guide to making chocolate from scratch. Launching on November 14th, "Making Chocolate: From Bean to Bar to S'more," includes everything from kitchen hacks for making chocolate at home, to a deep look into the nuts, bolts, and ethics of sourcing beans and building relationships with producers along the supply chain. Complete with 30 recipes from the heart of Dandelion's beloved pastry kitchen, the book is an essential resource for hobbyists and ambitious chocolate makers alike, and anyone looking for maybe (definitely) the best chocolate chip cookie in the world.
