Hand-built Architecture Inspired Clay Vessels

By Marcela Torres

Overview

In this course we will select a building or object to build as a functional vessel.

In this course we will select a building or object to build as a functional vessel. Using rolled out slabs to cut out the shapes to for the architectural structure - will then present our 3D structures.

Think of a house, a microwave, a t.v - that you can drink out of! Think of a room you remember or a car you sat in during your childhood - but as a cereal bowl. Be outrageous! Think of something that’s never been drunk out of before and give it a chance at a new perspective!

What texture do windows and screens bring? What texture does cardboard have? Can functional vessels have wheels? Where can those wheels be in relation to the mouth of your pot? These questions and how you answer them will be crucial to making our architecture inspired vessels.
