The Hāfu2Hāfu project was started by Netherlands-based Japanese-Belgian photographer Tetsuro Miyazaki to explore a growing global community of hāfu - people with one Japanese parent.
Miyazaki aimed to photograph a mixed-Japanese person from every UN-recognised country, producing a series of over 100 black and white portraits, each accompanied by a question that the portrayed person poses directly to the viewer.
Themes of mixed-Japanese identity may resonate particularly with people from this background, or from a mixed East/Southeast Asian background, or another mixed ethnicity. It may also resonate with people who are parents of mixed ethnicity children, and/or their friends and allies.
After exhibitions in Japan, Europe, and the US, we’re so excited to be bringing this exhibition to the UK for the first time, at The Casbah in the heart of London’s West End.

Conversation Cards: Each guest will receive a question from the Hafu2Hafu project on arrival, some are playful, others more reflective. Use it to spark conversation with those around you!

Halloween-Inspired Drinks: Enjoy themed cocktails and mocktails courtesy of HENRY's at the Casbah, created specially for the night. Expect seasonal flavours, warm spices, and a touch of the unexpected.
