About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Step into a world where sound becomes spirit. Renowned guqin artist and philosopher Fanzhou invites audiences to experience the ancient Chinese zither as a mirror of the heart and a path to inner stillness. More than a musical recital, this immersive session explores the emotional and spiritual resonance of guqin through live performance, reflection, and dialogue—awakening a deep sense of connection between sound, self, and space.

Artist Bio: Fan Zhou, born in 1953, is a renowned artist in Chinese ink painting who developed a style integrating musical rhythm into Chinese landscape painting and highlighting intertwined lines.

In 1992. Fan Zhou settled in the depth of the Qingling Mountain Range. There he studied Buddhist sutras and classics of ancient China in order to make contribution to the modern development of traditional Chinese painting. In 2009, after years of study and practice, he initiated the concept of “freeing oneself from the objective world and creating with one’s natural will” and developed a distinctive style integrating elements of music and calligraphy into painting.

Fan Zhou has published a number of Chinese painting catalogs and has held solo exhibitions in several countries such as, USA, France and Germany. Many of his works have been collected by museums and art galleries nationally and internationally. In 2014, the Chinese ministry of culture held “The Rhythm of Mountains and Rivers-Fan Zhou’s Ink and Wash Paintings” in the national gallery of China. In 2015, a world tour “The ink world of Fan Zhou” was launched, which has been successively showed in Paris, Bonn and Beijing. In 2018, Fan Zhou collaborated with Glorious Jewel art center to present “Tao of line- The ink world of Fan Zhou” in Shanghai and Taipei.
