Guided Nature Walk at Long Pond
Overview
Difficulty: Moderate/Easy
Appropriate for: All
Leader: Jeff Adams
About the Outing Leader: Jeff is an avid outdoor enthusiast & naturalist who’s been enjoying the natural world for 50 years. He’s a member of the Friends of the Fells, The Trustees, Mass Audubon, Sudbury Valley Trustees, Acton Conservation Trust, Arlington Land Trust, Essex Greenbelt, Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions, The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Tufts University, Newton Conservators and The Massachusetts Archaeological Society, Inc.
About the Outing: We’ll focus on Plant ID and include some natural history and lore too. Most leaves are gone but there’ll still be lots to see. Branching patterns, Galls, Leaf Scars, persistent Fruits will help in our identification. Has your well run dry? Maybe we’ll see a plant used to help locate water? A plant whose root was once used to make rootbeer? And how about a tree used to help alleviate a cough?
