Join National Loon Center staff for a guided loon paddle on Cross Lake. Learn about loon behavior, chick development, loon calls, and more!
Arrive at 8am to the Cross Lake SW Public Water Access off of West Shore Drive to unload your kayak or canoe and park in the lot across the street from the access point. We expect the unloading process to take about half an hour. After everyone is unloaded, we will paddle on the southern end of Cross Lake for about an hour and a half, returning to the public access by 10am.
All participants must bring their own kayak or canoe, paddle, and life jacket. Contact Crow Wing Kayaks for kayak rentals in Crosslake.

- water
- dry bags
- sunscreen
- insect repellent
- water resistant clothing
- towels
This event is weather dependent and will be canceled in the event of rain or wind speeds over 10mph. Participants will be notified via email in the event of a cancelation.
All participants should have prior paddling experience and be comfortable loading/unloading their kayak/canoe at the access point, see photo below.
