Guide Dogs information and experience morning

By Guide Dogs North West Puppy Development Team

Overview

"Life changers isn’t just a quote – it’s so true. Milo has saved my life in more ways than one." Scott, guide dog owner

This information session is open to active PRs, those on a break, fosterers and those going through the application process and awaiting a puppy, however, due to space restrictions spaces will be on a first come first served basis for booking a place.

*We kindly ask that you leave your pups at home for this one though.

"I lost everything, I lost the ability to be Scott, the confident, independent Scott." Hear how partnering with Milo changed that.

Speaker Scott Bailey will be giving a talk about his experiences of sight loss and the impact guide dog Milo has had on his, and his family's life.

Members of the training team from Atherton will be joining us to do some blindfold handle walks giving you the chance to feel what it's like to be guided.(pray for reasonable weather, but bring a coat just in case! - we do have contingency if it's too cold or wet outside)

We'll also have other activities that give you the opportunity to see how different eye conditions can affect your vision and they'll be interactive activities on what puppy raising means to you.

Some feedback from the last event:

"What can I say about Scott and Milo? Informative, heartbreaking, heartwarming and 100% conclusive that what we are all part of doing as a voluntary job is life-changing for so many."

"It was really good to have an event that reminded me why I puppy raise."

"It was so informative and fun too. Lovely to see some of the Atherton trainers and experience a little of how to be guided by a dog."

Venue note: There will be other people using one of the rooms at the venue. We have the main hall and the Holmes side.room. Should the car park be full, the venue have advised there is street parking on the residential road Westfield Drive opposite. Please be mindful that access to properties is not blocked.
