Stuart Schrader (Ph.D., NYU) is Associate Director of the Program in Racism, Immigration, and Citizenship at Johns Hopkins University, where he teaches courses in Africana Studies, International Studies, Political Science, and Sociology. Dr. Schrader’s research interests cluster around security, policing, and counterinsurgency; the entwinement of foreign and domestic policy; and race and urbanization.
His ground-breaking book, Badges Without Borders: How Global Counterinsurgency Transformed American Policing (California, 2019), investigates the linkages between counter-insurgency warfare abroad and the militarization of domestic policing in the U.S.
