Event description

Description

Join us in person or online for our sixth Social Work Grand Challenges event — Advance Long and Productive Lives.

Our keynote speaker, Professor Nancy Morrow-Howell, Ph.D., informs social policies and programs to engage and improve the quality of life as we age. Morrow-Howell is the director of the Washington University in St. Louis' Harvey A. Friedman Center for Aging and her area of scholarship is the productive engagement of older adults.

The plenary address will be given by NYU Professor Ernest Gonzales, Ph.D., whose research informs the development of knowledge on policies and programs that shape health among individuals, and benefit communities and society.

Additionally, two panels comprised of Colorado state and local leaders will address strategies to:

  • promote inclusivity for productive aging within communities
  • develop policy efforts to promote long and productive lives

An interactive discussion will follow each panel.

The American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare is leading a groundbreaking initiative to champion social progress powered by science through the 12 Grand Challenges for Social Work. To advance progress on Social Work's Grand Challenges, the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver launched the Social Work Grand Challenges Science for Action Series in 2017. The series will address all 12 of the challenges over four years.
