Contemplative practices renew something in our will, our habits of the mind, and even in our relationships to our bodies. These are more than objective intellectual categories, they are invitations to more deeply combine or integrate, the will, heart, and mind… and so much more. But its sometimes hard to get a handle on describing that growth.

Most of us can look back and see how we’ve "grown up” through stages. And many of us have had experiences where we’ve felt we “woke up” but its not so much a stage, as one off experience or state. How does the human wake up into deeper and deeper transformation? How might we “renew our mind” or “put the mind in the heart?”

These can be mapped through what is sometimes called Spiral Dynamic or “Integral” theory. Based on the work of Ken Wilber and Don Beck, our small group will explore the stages laid out in this map, as well as ways to integrate our day-to-day contemplative practices into this path of growing up and waking up.

We’ll be using Wilber’s book, “Integral Meditation” as a resource, but the book is not required for the course.

A great class for facilitators, teachers, clergy, and anyone looking to note progress in your own life in a way that in grace-filled-yet-challenging, while helping us integrate various parts of life. Each class will include a guided meditation.

Troy Bronsink is Founder/Director of the Hive. He is a spiritual director, published author, facilitator and minister from the Protestant, Presbyterian Christian lineage. In both secular and faith-based settings, Troy’s work has been to build spiritual depth within creatives, activists, and entrepreneurs. Troy has presented at Creative Mornings, 99U, and TEDx’s Innovation Alley and is an active student in the Living School at Albuquerque's Center for Action and Contemplation. He lives with his wife and two kids in Northside.
