Meet your Toronto Master Gardener: Fernando Shanthilal 🌱
Although currently in the IT sector as a Senior Project Manager, Fernando began in the world of Botany, earning a first degree in the field and immersing himself in Sri Lanka’s rich agricultural traditions. From managing crop plantations like rubber, paddy, and cash crops, to perfecting the art of bud grafting for rubber, mango, and rose plants, he developed a deep-rooted passion for nurturing life. He is passionate about sustainable food production, and his enthusiasm for growing microgreens and cultivating mushrooms were hobbies that flourished during the lockdown era.
