Grief Ornament Making
Overview
The holidays can stir up tender places, whether you are missing someone who has died, grieving a part of life that has changed, or simply navigating a season that can feel heavy when the world expects joy.
You are invited to create a grief ornament in community at Longmont Care Circle. This ornament can honor a loved one who has died, a relationship that ended, a difficult transition, or anything your heart is holding this season.
We’ll provide all the materials as well as some gentle prompts to support you. As you create, you are welcome to share stories, memories, or reflections with others, or simply create in quiet company.
As Sobonfu Somé teaches, “Communal grieving offers something we cannot get when we grieve by ourselves. Through acknowledgement, validation, and witnessing, communal grieving allows us to experience a level of healing that is deeply and profoundly freeing.”
When you take your ornament home, you are invited to hang it somewhere you’ll see it, a reminder that grief is not something to “get over,” but something we honor and continue to be in relationship with. Let it be a small light in a season where both love and sorrow can coexist.
No artistic experience is needed.
All supplies and light refreshments provided.
Come as you are.
