About this event

This class is designed to provide training in Best Management Practices for anyone working in the lawn, landscape, pest control, or municipal grounds areas. Best Management Practices are focused on reducing nonpoint source pollution resulting from fertilizer or pesticide application.

The State of Florida requires all commercial fertilizer applicators to obtain a Limited Certification for Commercial Fertilizer Application license. Certification in BMPs is required to obtain this license. Applications for the license will be available at the BMP seminar.

In Sarasota County, you are required to be certified in BMPs to be able to apply fertilizer commercially. In many areas, to be able to bid on jobs or have commercial customers, you must be BMP-certified.

Following completion of this training, you will be given a post-test to determine knowledge learned. If the post-test is successfully completed, you will be mailed a certificate of completion from the University of Florida.

CEUs: 2 Core + 2 from the following categories: Pvt., O&T, LCLM, LLO, LF, L&O, 4 MAXIMUM

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Registration/check-in: 8:15-8:30 a.m. Light breakfast and coffee are provided. Lunch will require an additional ticket. You are also welcome to bring your own at no cost.

Lunch: This program includes time for lunch. If you would like to receive a boxed lunch, please purchase an additional meal ticket.

Cost: $20.00 per person, free for verified Sarasota County employees

Advance registration is required. You may buy your tickets online or register to pay at the door.
