Zodwa Dance Co. co-founder, Dr. Zithobile "Zitty" Nxumalo, and Greensboro-based Zodwa dancers, Victoria WIlliams, MFA, and Nallah Muhammad, gained a significant part of their foundation learning Dunham Technique from the late Dr. Eleanor Gwynn. As former E. Gwynn Dancers of North Carolina A&T State University (AGGIE PRIDE!!), Zitty, Victoria, and Nallah give honor to their foundation as they each carry out their unique, community-driven work. Zodwa Dance Co. welcomes our neighbors to an introductory series open to all skill levels. This class series aims to create a vibrant exchange of cultural and artistic practices in the City of Greensboro, by enriching the local dance community through 6 FREE Dunham Technique dance classes held in the Cultural Arts Center in Downtown Greensboro. Classes will be led by guest artist, Durham-based Dunham Technique instructor, Nicole ( Pinky) Thomas. The series will introduce and invite dancers to learn the fundamental principles of the Dunham Technique, enhancing their technical skills while providing a deeper understanding of the African Diasporic roots of modern dance.
May this series awaken your own visceral connection to power and freedom through dance!!
