Overview
Attention, business owners! With support from Invest Detroit and the City of Detroit, Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation is pleased to announce a façade improvement grant application for small business owners on Grand River (between Evergreen and the Southfield Freeway).
Deadline: Applications will be open Oct. 1 and close Oct. 31, 2025.
Eligibility
- Businesses must be located in Grandmont Rosedale on Grand River Ave between Evergreen Road and the Southfield Freeway
- Taxes must be current
- If renting, rent must be current
- Business address must not have any outstanding blight tickets or violations with the City of Detroit
- Detroit Water & Sewerage bills must be current
Program Description
Grants will not exceed $25,000 with preference given to proposals under $25,000. Funding will only support improving facades and exterior conditions such as lighting, signage, windows, walkways, etc. Selected participants will not receive funds directly. Rather, business owners will be paired with a partnering architect and general contractor working with GRDC. Selected participants should be prepared for multiple meetings with GRDC, architects and contractors throughout the grant period.
Scoring & Selections
All proposals will be reviewed and scored by the Grandmont Rosedale Economic Development Committee according to a predetermined scoring rubric found here.
Applications that advance will be reviewed by the City of Detroit and Invest Detroit for final approval. Applicants are expected to be notified of award selections in November 2025.
Info Session
An in-person info session will be held at the GRDC office at 19800 Grand River, Detroit MI 48223 at 6 pm on October 20, 2025. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the program and meet the program administrators and funders.
