Overview

This workshop will cover the anatomy of a successful grant application.

Getting research funding requires you to communicate your science in a way that convinces busy reviewers your work is worth their investment. Whether you are applying for an NSF-GRFP or an F31, the core principles of grantsmanship remain the same: know your audience, make your significance undeniable, and structure your narrative so that funding you feels like the obvious choice.

This workshop will be hosted by Christian Cazares, PhD (Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UC San Diego) where he will lead a practical workshop on writing scientific grants.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Anatomy of a successful grant application
  • Structure the specific aims component of grants that can make or break your first impression to the reviewers
