Overview

Learn how to best supervise your team and support them in the implementation of the GPS Group Peer Support Model.

GPS SUPERVISOR TRAINING PROGRAM

“The GPS Group Model is the best group model that I have encountered; a beautiful model for supporting the ones that need it the most.”

This training is for anyone in a supervisor role supporting staff to run GPS groups. Learn more about GPS's trauma-informed, evidence-based group approach, how to support your team, how this group approach is different from other group models that your team may be implementing, and how to integrate GPS into the heart of the services that your program offers.

Note: This training is appropriate for those in supervisory roles who are unfamiliar with GPS as well as those who have attended GPS trainings in the past.

WHAT PROFESSIONALS ARE SAYING:

“This is an opportunity for support, guidance with a true human approach."

"It is a great introduction to the model and gives you a look at what the GPS framework is all about."

"Offering structured groups for individuals without group facilitation experience."

"I think most people running groups feel as though they wish there was more support, more structure, more guidance - people want to feel competent and capable in this work, and there are far too few resources for group support. Iwould talk to them about GPS as a way to address all of those concerns they might have."

ABOUT GPS GROUP PEER SUPPORT

GPS Group Peer Support (GPS) is an evidence-based and trauma-informed mental wellness intervention that mitigates the long-term effects of stress, strain, and trauma. Incorporating elements of mindfulness-based stress reduction, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, peer-to-peer support, psychosocial education, and other evidence-based modalities, GPS is designed for the rapid implementation of essential mental wellness support during times of stress, crisis, and change. The GPS model has been successfully implemented among diverse populations, including parents dealing with postpartum depression, health care workers experiencing burnout, people dealing with substance use disorder, refugees, survivors of war, and people facing oppression based on their racial, sexual, gender, religious, or other identities. It can be delivered by mental health clinicians as well as peer leaders, clergy, and volunteers with lived experience.
