Overview

Join us for a braw night o' Glaswegian Scots writing at the launch of Govanhill Whit Aboot Ye? - dinnae miss it!

Come on doon and find your voice! We’re launching our new writing group to gather incredible stories for the next issue of Greater Govanhill Magazine and we want you to be part of it.

This is a totally inclusive space that welcomes everyone, no matter your background, language skills, or where you're from. Whether you're a lifelong Glaswegian, a new arrival curious about the local dialect, or keen to explore writing in Scots, we encourage you to come along and just try it out!

Our launch event is designed to make you feel comfortable. We’ll hear from published Scots writers from Govanhill and beyond, who will speak about the power and evolution of writing in Scots. This is your chance to learn something new, connect with fellow community members, and realize that your experiences, and your way of speaking, are what makes our neighbourhood the unique hear of Glasgow's Southside.

Join us to create, share, and celebrate the vibrant, ever-evolving language of our city as we start working towards stories for our 21st issue in 2026!

We'll be joined by Govanhill writer's Shane Johnstone (Govanhill Mythology / Beul-aithris Chnoc a' Ghobhainn), Wendy Miller (Versaye!, On It Like a Sonnet - upcoming), and more to be announced, who will be discussing their work, writing in scots, and how you can begin your own Scots writing journey.
