On his 20th birthday (May 22, 1990), Jimmy Bennington got his first real drumset and began playing gigs shortly thereafter. After nearly a decade on the Jazz and Blues scene in Texas, he relocated to the West Coast, where he was active for several years. During this time, he was mentored by late Coltrane drummer Elvin Jones for over ten years, touring the world serving as Jones’ drum tech. In 2006, Bennington moved to Chicago and has been a part of the Jazz scene ever since. He has performed throughout the US with regular tours to NYC, Canada, Paris, and Peru. He is represented on several labels including the prestigious Cadence Jazz Records in NY. He is a sponsored artist for dream Cymbals & Gongs. And he has performed with an array of Jazz greats including Joe Lovano, Ed Schuller, Perry Robinson, and Julian Priester to name a few. Epiphany Center for the Arts proudly welcomes Mr. Bennington for this special 35 Year Anniversary. Expect the tradition and its perimeters into the beyond.www.jbcolourandsound.com
