Godmothers Gather:The Fair Play Guide to Grief

Author Eve Rodsky takes the stage to share “The Fair Play Guide to Grief,” which uses the framework of her groundbreaking “Fair Play System” to offer practical tools and steps for navigating the logistics of life while grieving—which can be even trickier during the holiday season. She’ll be joined in conversation by New York Times–bestselling ghostwriter Samantha Rose, who tried to unravel the mystery surrounding her mother’s suicide in her recently published memoir “Giving Up the Ghost.”

Grief is a human experience that requires care, coordination, and a great deal of emotional and mental labor. “The Fair Play Guide to Grief” focuses on death, but much of what it covers is applicable to other types of loss: divorce, job loss, infertility, or estrangement. Leaning into the “Fair Play System” will make space for you to rest, process, and heal without carrying the whole weight of life alone.

The guide also includes a section on supporting someone else through a loss, with suggestions for how to show up in a meaningful way.
