About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

DESCRIPTION: People travel long distances to Pamplona to run with bulls, but right on the Blue Ridge at Friends Wilderness you can enjoy a friendly, adorable alternative: Runing with GOATS!

Help milk our producing does and take the girls to pasture to clear the weeds near the cabin. Then the real fun starts, running the boys through the woods to munch invasive plants on the conservancy.

  • Come meet, learn about, and interact with our goats: grazers & milkers.
  • Explore the the Blue Ridge forest and the threat of invasive species.
  • See the progress of our goat gardening activities.
  • Learn about the benefits of GPS collars and invisible fences.

Please consider the weather. Milking occurs rain or shine, but everyone prefers to dine in when conditions are wet.

DONATIONS: Programs are offered on a free-will donation basis, but participants are kindly requested to consider a $20/person minimum donation to support our mission, facilities, livestock & care for the wilderness. Those who are able to contribute help ensure that access to the healing power of nature is available to all.

ACCESSIBILITY/PHYSICAL CHALLENGE: This program is mildly exertive but portions can be adapted to accomodate less activity.
