gmtc sessions #6: armando cortés + chantal mcstay + jenny wu
'gmtc sessions' were conceived as a series of experiments in writing about performance and in the performance of writing. on various days between september 4 and october 25, pairings of artists and critics will convene at 210 canal st, room 310, to, respectively, rehearse and respond to a work-in-progress.
the sixth 'gmtc session' on october 18th at 3:00 - 4:30 pm will feature armando cortés and chantal mcstay.

armando cortés (b. 1989, urequio, michoacán, mexico) received a ba from ucla, 2012 and a maf from yale school of art, 2021. he currently lives and works in brooklyn, ny.
chantal mcstay is a writer and editor in brooklyn. her work has been published by the new york review of books, artreview, bomb magazine, t: the new york times style magazine, the paris review, wkcr public radio, bookforum, the comics journal, and more. she is currently managing editor at christie’s and a contributing editor in art at bomb.
jenny wu is a critic, essayist, and associate editor of artreview.
* documentation of the events – critics’ texts and photographs by – will live on in the form of a limited-edition chapbook-length anthology, also titled ‘the gmtc sessions’, forthcoming in winter/spring 2026.
