n 2009, visionary Monique Davis began her work with homeless women and children connecting them to local resources. As her efforts began to expand the number of women she helped, her network of organizations to assist these women began to grow as well. Then in 2016, Ms. Davis took a bold step and created the nonprofit Women Connections Incorporated. This was in response to the growing unprecedented need to help homeless women and children in the Houston, Texas area. Her organization’s passion - to empower women to overcome poverty; something she too had to overcome early on in her life.

“We must remember we all have encountered difficulties in our lives that we had to work through and God wants us to be an encouragement to others,” says Ms. Davis. By networking with various organizations, businesses and individuals, Ms. Davis was able to build a program that addressed the multiple barriers her clients faced. Such strong partnerships have been the catalyst of change for the women and children in WCI’s program.

Since its inception, WCI has worked to provide housing, food, job preparation and business skills, health and wellness education, spiritual formation, and access to financial education to over 500 women and children. This is just the beginning. Their future plans include purchasing an existing building to be able to house more women and children in need and to provide more extensive services.
