Giving Thanks: A Shared Ritual of Gratitude

By Church of the Wild ~ Two Rivers

Overview

Earth blesses and makes our lives possible by her gifts of air, water, and food. It is an honor to join together to offer our thanks.

Day by day, moment by moment, earth pours out gifts that nourish and sustain us. At this gathering, we will pause to join together in a ritual of gratitude in honor of all that we have been given.

Everyone is invited to join in this giving of thanks by bringing 20 small items to share such as 20 walnuts, 20 tiny pieces of an apple, 20 small pieces of bread, etc. You are also welcome to bring a candle, autumn flowers, or leaves to decorate our table. Please note the origin of what you bring to share as part of our ritual.

We'll meet in the basement of the retreat center and will be wandering outside so dress for the weather. We'll begin with a silent walk along the trails to offer our individual thanks. Then we'll join together to celebrate all that we have received. We anticipate a time of rich sharing.

In addition to food to share, you'll also want to bring water bottle, and journal, if you wish. Poems, music, readings on the topic are welcome as well. Donations will be accepted via cash, Venmo or check to help cover the cost of our meeting space. And, of course, feel free to bring a friend!

Church of the Wild ~ Two Rivers is an emerging community, meeting in the midst of and sharing with the abundant life all around us. Our intent is to deepen our connection to the Holy by being more fully present, open and available in each moment. We learn from the earth and trees, the waters and sky, and from all living beings, human and non-human.

You are welcome! We welcome anyone who seeks to deepen their spirituality through time in nature. Whatever your religious tradition, or if you have none, Christian or otherwise, no matter your gender identity or sexual orientation, you are welcome here. Children are welcome too; email us ahead of time so that we can offer suggestions to make this time more meaningful and relevant for them. Dogs are not permitted at Shepherd's Spring.
