Girls in Gis Maryland - Hyattsville Event

Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are!

Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators.

Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.

You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.

GIG Maryland - Hyattsville Guest instructors: Allison Smith & Charlene Dixon

Allison Smith is a Vicente Jr black belt under Chris Bower at Bowerhouse MMA. Allison loves coaching and helping others learn and grow in the sport. Jiujitsu has given her numerous opportunities to travel, train, and meet amazing women across the world! She began competing and cross-training as a purple belt and her achievements include 2xPans medalist, NoGi Pans Champion, and NoGi Worlds Medalist. Pressure and wrestling is a huge part of her game and she loves sharing what she knows with others, and making her training partners a little miserable while doing it.

Charlene Dixon is a GFTeam black belt under Professor Deivid Dias at GFTeam DC. A love for individual sports in a team enviroment is what drew her to the sport and the relationships she's made are what keeps her around. An active competitor for 12 years, her accomplishments include Pans champion, 6x Master Worlds medalist and 2x Euros medalist. Known as "Bully" to her friends and opponents, she loves to show her students how to smash and control. Char has taught, trained and competed across the globe using jiu jitsu as a tool to travel the world and meet new friends in new cities.

COST: $20 Min Donation. All Donations Welcome.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ONLINE. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE CLOSED 9/21/25 at 1:00 PM OR ONCE WE REACH CAPACITY. WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ONCE CAPACITY IS REACHED.

Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and all sales are final. Doors open at 11:30 am. Please arrive early to change and get ready or come ready so we may start on time at 12:00 pm.
