ABOUT THE HOST:

I’m Liu (pronounced “Lee-you”) Batchelor, and I’m a presenter and video coach, strategist, and producer. And I help people quickly and efficiently get started with video, and ‘be the presenter they want to be’.

I’ve spent 5+ years helping people become TEDx speaker, and 14+ years help people use video to promote their business, become thought leaders, and most importantly to find their authentic voice and how they want to use it to contribute to the world.

But I know from personal experience what this journey takes - and the emotional rollercoaster and psychological blocks that can come up when you start to speak up about something you care a lot about.

Growing up, I really struggled with public speaking and sharing my ideas; I’d get all hot and lightheaded and almost faint. But the more I tried to ‘fix’ it - the worse it got - as I put more pressure on myself.

But this changed when I decided to become curious and listening to what my nerves were telling me. And most of the time - they were telling me “stop trying to be something you’re not! - stop trying to be ‘perfect’, and just be you!!”

Now, I’m a TV presenter - and I love it because its a chance to get really present and to connect with and share what feels true and authentic for me. I still get nervous at the start of a new video project …but instead of resisting it, now I use it as my guide to align me with what’s important and natural.

As a video producer, I’ve also used my creative and technical knowledge to design ways of filming and creating video which lean into my strengths, rather the my fears.

And as a TEDx talks curator and communications coach, I’ve seen how others experience their own concerns and cringe about video, public speaking and sharing ideas - and it’s a privileged when they trust me to work together to realign with their natural voice.
