In this workshop, Becky will introduce basic watercolor techniques, tools, and materials, focusing on simple shapes and combining them to create greater compositions. We will discuss the art of simplicity and how less can sometimes communicate more in watercolor.
We'll try basic watercolor techniques including wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry, and practice how to hold and control the brush for different strokes. We will practice painting simple shapes using everything we've learned, to gain a deeper understanding of water color and then it's time to put it all together to create a minimalist painting using one or two colors, focusing on balance and form.
In this workshop, you will learn about
- the fundamentals of watercolor,
- practice techniques including wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry painting,
- play with a broad range of colors, and
- learn and paint in an intimate class environment with one-on-one support as needed.
