General W.W.H. Davis: The Essential Doylestonian

By Doylestown Historical Society

Overview

As a soldier, politician, antiquarian and historian his influence on Doylestown is vast.

In a town with many famous contenders for the title of most important citizen, there is no one more essential to understanding Doylestown than General W.W.H. Davis. As a soldier, politician, antiquarian and historian his influence is as vast as it is unequalled. Indeed, our collective identity, our shared values, and especially our sense of history, are all either creations of Davis or the by products of his life.

Mike Campbell is the President of the Bucks County Civil War Museum. He is also a tour guide at Doylestown Cemetery. He is writing a biography of W.W.H. Davis. He can be reached at www.civilwarmuseumdoylestown.org

Meeting will be in our Barn Gallery at the back of our park.
