If you are feeling overwhelmed with life right now, if you need some time to decompress, join us for a relaxing workshop that will get your creative juices flowing again.

No need for any artistic talent or prior experience. 2020 Artist Laureate Dana Harris Seeger will show you how to get in touch with your creative self in this meditative (but also addictive) Gelli Plate Printing process. Materials can be purchased in a $20 kit so you don't have to worry about anything! Just be prepared to get a little messy and have a lot of fun!

This workshop is an ideal family activity for adults and kids. The simple techniques are enjoyable for all ages. Gelli printing use a gelatin (yup, the main ingredient in Jello) plate on which you apply paint, then press paper onto it to create a print.

Your ticket and optional kit covers one to three people working together.

The optional art kit contains all the supplies you need to complete your Gelli print: 1 5x7” Gelli plate, a set of Golden Open Acrylics, a couple of stencils, printing paper and a brayer for applying the paint. Kits ordered after September 8 must be picked up in downtown San Jose.

This is the first in the Soothing Art Sundays Series hosted by the San Jose Woman's Club. Expressive art is such an important part of processing all that we are going through right now.

Dana Harris Seeger is an award-winning artist and teacher. She exhibits her work nationally and has been published in Studio Visit Magazine. Along with her husband, she is the co-founder School of Visual Philosophy, an art studio and school in downtown San Jose. She has taught printmaking throughout northern California, including San Jose State University, from which she graduated with a MFA in printmaking.
