About this event

Garrett Bucks Book Event & Workshop

Organizer Garrett Bucks just came out with his first book, The Right Kind of White, and is going on a non-traditional book tour to promote it. Garrett has gamely added Lynchburg to his tour and will be in town Tuesday, April 30th to discuss the book and lead a workshop centered around getting folks energized and organized to work together on the Democratic city council campaign efforts. He’ll lead a discussion about why it’s so hard to initiate collective community change, the power of aligning on a shared community-wide campaign, and what we’re craving from a political movement and how we can offer that to each other and our neighbors. The more collective our action, the more effective our results!

Garrett Bucks is the founder of The Barnraiser Project, which has trained nearly one thousand participants to organize majority-white communities for racial and social justice. He is also the author of the popular newsletter The White Pages. Originally from Montana, he lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his wife and two children. The Right Kind of White is his first book.
