Get Prepared for the Web Development Immersive

If you are considering becoming a Galvanize Web Development Immersive student, this workshop will give you the tools and techniques necessary to be successful as a student here at Galvanize. Beginning your web development journey can sometimes be a little intimidating, especially if you’re trying to achieve the skills necessary to gain acceptance to our 6-month program.

This 8-week, part-time, workshop was created specifically to help change that and jumpstart your career as a Web Developer.

Why take this workshop?

New to programming or feeling misdirected by self-teaching? This program was developed for you! With a curriculum designed to give you the fundamental building blocks of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, this workshop is intended to prepare you for admission to the Galvanize Web Development Immersive program and provide you a foundation for your programming journey.

You will learn the technical skills needed to succeed in the Galvanize Web Development admissions process, while also giving you the room and space to explore your interests in web development and programming.

NOTE: Successful completion of this workshop does not guarantee acceptance into the Galvanize Web Development Immersive program.

What You’ll Learn:

By the end of this workshop you will learn:

• How to program efficiently in JavaScript using: variables, arrays, objects, etc.

• Working with loops and evaluating conditions

• Working with functions to create complex code

• Interacting with the web browser using jQuery

• Creating complete HTML/CSS layouts from a mockup.

Tuition Credit:

100% of this workshop payment can be used as tuition credit for our Web Development Immersive in the following cities: San Francisco, Seattle, Austin, Boulder, and Fort Collins. For these cities, candidates must enroll in an Immersive that begins within 1 year of the completion of their workshop(s). Candidates can take the workshop in any city. If you have taken another workshop already, we'll credit 75% of the cost of both workshops towards your tuition credit.

Meet Your Instructors

Adam Lichty began the journey of becoming a web developer after nearly a decade in photography, and working within the start-up tech industry. He enrolled at Galvanize, Boulder as a Web Development student, and became a Web Development Resident with Galvanize in April of 2015. After helping to transform the lives of his students he followed his passion for educating and programming to his current role, Associate Instructor of Web Development with Galvanize in Seattle. He is passionate about programming and assisting other people in their journeys of becoming Web Developers.

Prerequisites:

No prereq skills required. This workshop is aimed to teach you the prereqs for the WDI program at Galvanize.
