About this event

As part of Galoshans 2025 X Feral Takeover Programme

Galoshans marks the time of harvesting vegetables and seed. Led by artist Hamshya Rajkumar, this workshop will explore and discuss the idea of a new “Galoshans vegetable” with local flavours, colours and textures we cherish as a community.

Seeds are ancient beings who carry stories, by saving seed we can embed new stories of Galoshans. It is hoped that the “Galoshans vegetable” will become highly adapted to Greenock’s soils and micro-climate.

Participants will explore beans/peas and squashes through tasting, touching, and storytelling—considering how flavour and tradition can guide our choices.

FREE / but ticketed

All Ages (under 16 to be accompanied by an adult)

*We will be tasting seeds like beans or peas and squash – please let us know with your order if you have any allergies!

ABOUT HAMSHYA RAJKUMAR

Hamshya Rajkumar is an interdisciplinary artist working across performance, sculpture, ecology and community seed. By situating the body outside the constraints of binary structures, Hamshya explores our human place in a world where ‘Nature’ is separate, dominated and objectified.Through engaging in long-term relationships with ‘Greenspaces’, they lead a site-specific practice. Currently they am drawn to sites ‘disturbed’ by humans: ranging from post-industrial Landscapes to Gardens. Hamshya is also a Seed Librarian for the Glasgow Seed Library.
