Future Risers Kickstart is Tacoma Rising’s brand-new youth entrepreneurship workshop, presented in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools. This high-energy, one-day event pairs senior students from Tacoma high schools with the Homegrown Influencers from Season 2 of the Tacoma Rising Podcast—local entrepreneurs who have built thriving businesses from the ground up.
Students will collaborate in small teams to develop an original business idea, build a brand, and pitch it live to the public—all in just one day. Along the way, they’ll gain real-world skills in teamwork, branding, marketing, public speaking, and problem-solving, while hearing firsthand stories of hustle, resilience, and community impact.
Join us for the public portion to watch the final presentations, network with changemakers, and show your support for local education, innovation, and equity.
Schedule:
1:30 PM – Doors Open, Coffee & Check-In: Arrive early to grab a coffee, mingle with local leaders, and find your seat before the action begins.
2:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Student Team Pitches (5 total): Watch five student teams pitch original business ideas they developed in just 4 hours with guidance from Tacoma’s top entrepreneurs. Expect bold ideas, fresh energy, and real community innovation.
3:00 PM – 3:30 PM – Judges Deliberation & Networking: While the judges make their decision, enjoy informal networking with community members, educators, students, and business leaders.
3:30 PM – Winner Announcement & Group Photo: Celebrate the winning team and all participants who brought Tacoma’s future to life. Stick around for a group photo and high-fives all around!
