Fundamentals of Rifle Scopes
Overview
Fundamentals of Rifle Scopes is an intermediate training course designed to give you the knowledge and skills to master sophisticated rifle optics. This intensive session assumes you have a foundational understanding of basic rifle operations and will focus entirely on maximizing the performance of your scope. Over approximately four hours of classroom presentation and discussion, we'll cover everything from the anatomy of a rifle scope and the difference between MOA vs. MRAD Systems to proper installation and configuration. Our goal is to ensure you can confidently and precisely configure and operate your optic for improved target identification and engagement at long range.
Mastering long-distance shooting requires more than just good marksmanship; it demands a comprehensive understanding of external variables and advanced optic operation. This course will delve into critical concepts like parallax adjustment, using reticle features effectively, and detailed range estimation and holdovers. You'll learn how to compensate for environmental effects such as gravity, wind, and air density, and you'll be introduced to essential scope verification methods like the box test and tall target test. Whether your interest is in precision rifle competitions, military/law enforcement marksmanship, or long-range hunting, this training is crucial for achieving peak accuracy and performance.
Finally, we'll equip you with practical knowledge for ongoing success, including effective maintenance routines, how to troubleshoot common issues like a scope not holding zero, and vital purchase considerations for your next optic. We emphasize safe and responsible firearm ownership throughout the training. Join us to transform your shooting capabilities by truly understanding the heart of long-range accuracy—your rifle scope.
