Frequently asked questions

Do we have to bring our own s'mores supplies?

Good question! Camp Takimina will provide enough basic s'mores supplies (marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers) for each participant to have two s'mores. We will also provide roasting sticks for marshmallows and water, but suggest also bringing a water bottle or other (non-alcoholic) drink.

What if we don't want to hike?

No problem! Join us for the National S'mores Day celebration and relax in main camp or go home after enjoying your sweet treat.

What if we don't want s'mores?

We will be keeping an eye on the skyline and venture off on our Full Moon Night Hike right before dusk. If you want to join us for the hike only, skip the gooey marshmallows and join us for the hike only.

Is the camp handicap accessible?

Main camp is equipped with ramps and an accessible porta-potty, but our trails beyond main camp are not wheelchair accessible. We'd love some input on how we can better serve our friends with accessibility needs.

What should we wear?

It's always recommended to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes for hiking and to add a layer of bug spray to help with mosquitos and other insects. We encourage you to bring a flashlight or glow-in-the-dark supplies for our hiking adventure.
