Overview

Explore how Cradle Indy's Nicole Carey on strengthening support for mothers, babies, and families in our community.

We are excited to invite you to our next Spiritual Care Grand Rounds on Thursday, December 18th at noon as we deepen our understanding on strengthening support for mothers, babies, and families in our community.

Join us virtually from noon to 1 PM for an empowering and informative conversation featuring Dr Nicole Carey, Chief Executive Officer of Cradle Indy. This session will explore how our community can work together to ensure mothers, babies, and families receive the care and support they need from pregnancy through a child’s first year of life.

Cradle Indy’s mission is rooted in equity, access, and compassion. Their work focuses on decreasing infant mortality in Marion County by connecting families with culturally responsive doulas, lactation support, mental and emotional health resources, home-visiting programs, and essential community partnerships. Their goal is simple and powerful: every baby deserves to celebrate their first birthday.

This commitment aligns deeply with the work of IU Health and the Congregational Care Network (CCN). At IU Health, we recognize that quality care extends beyond clinical walls and through CCN, we partner with faith communities to address spiritual and emotional needs, reduce isolation, and build networks of care that support people where they live, worship, and grow. Together, we create a circle of care that strengthens the entire family unit.

During this one-hour virtual session, you will:

  • Hear from Nicole Carey about Cradle Indy’s vision, current work, and community impact.
  • Learn about the real challenges facing mothers and infants in Marion County
  • Explore how healthcare systems and faith-based networks can collaborate to improve outcomes.
  • Understand practical ways congregations, chaplains, care ministries, and advocates can support families.
  • Identify opportunities to partner with Cradle Indy and CCN to create a stronger, more connected “village.”

This session is ideal for pastors, chaplains, caregivers, church health ministries, doulas, healthcare providers, and community members who are passionate about maternal and infant well-being.

Let’s work together; health care and faith communities united; to create a safer, stronger, and more compassionate beginning for every mother and every baby in our community.
