From the Innovator's Workbench featuring Gary Guthart, PhD
Overview
Gary Guthart’s definition of a leader is simple: someone who sees the problem as it is; who can help the team envision a future that is better; and who can build an organization that executes in a sustainable way, in a healthy culture, to achieve that vision.
For a decade and a half, Guthart was that leader at Intuitive. Fourteen years after joining as employee number 11, he took the helm, steering the company’s rise into a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery. But Guthart does not describe Intuitive as a robotics organization: he sees their purpose as designing technology-enabled ecosystems that deliver life-enhancing care.
On November 17, join us to hear more about how an applied mathematician evolved into a health technology leader relentlessly focused on solving big problems in healthcare, to return patients to full health much quicker than is currently possible.

About the series:
Stanford Biodesign launched "From the Innovator’s Workbench" speaker series in 2003 to enable the Stanford Biodesign community and the public to learn from the greatest health technology innovators of our time. Each event features an individual or a panel of health technology leaders being interviewed about their innovation process, insights, and perspectives on the changing healthcare landscape. The Innovator's Workbench events are currently sponsored by Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
