About the Institute of Design (ID)
The Institute of Design (ID), known for introducing the world to human-centered design and systems design, is an international resource for strategic designers, leaders, and changemakers who want to do better and face the future with a plan. Visionary László Moholy-Nagy founded ID in 1937 as The New Bauhaus. Eighty-eight years later we continue to advance the study and use of design from our Chicago home, the Illinois Institute of Technology Mies van der Rohe campus. At ID—our Graduate School, Action Labs, and Executive Academy—we believe in rigorous creativity and rapid iteration, and we believe anyone can learn to use design to transform the systems that shape our lives.
