From Roots to Revolution
Overview
The Living Room Collective is proud to present From Roots to Revolution, an exhibition honoring Latin American resilience.
Our opening night will feature works from eight exhibiting artists—Uber Lopez Enamorado, Peña Espinoza, Jose Flores, Chris Luna, Jasmine Luna, Antonio Perez, Felix Quintana, and Javie Ruiz—alongside a selection of zine vendors and immigration rights information provided by somosloud. This event invites the Los Angeles community to gather in celebration of art, culture, and collective storytelling, with a special musical performance by CJ Rubio Trio.
From Roots to Revolution was created in response to the ongoing attacks on our Latino community—attacks fueled by systemic violence, racism, and fear of our progress and deep love for our culture. As Latinos and Chicanos, we carry our cultures across borders, adapting them to survive and thrive in new realities. We are both “here and there,” grounded in memory and rooted in resistance.
This exhibition is not only a reflection on what was, but a tribute to those who crossed borders—often under brutal conditions—only to be met with racism, exploitation, and systemic neglect. We honor our Latin American identity not just as cultural heritage, but as a living force: a source of pride, creativity, and radical imagination.
From Roots to Revolution is a call to break the silence. To unlearn the myths we’ve been taught. To confront the legacy of U.S. colonization and the violence it continues to inflict on our people.
