From Listening to Leading: The CandL Phase Five Summit

The CandL Coalition and Black Child Development–Carolinas invite you to a powerful day of collective action and community organizing as we launch Phase Five of the CandL Initiative — our statewide advocacy campaign to transform North Carolina’s child care system.

What began with listening sessions across 34 counties has become a movement rooted in the stories, wisdom, and will of families, educators, and community leaders. Now, it’s time to move from listening to leading—turning lived experience into leadership and leadership into lasting change.

What to Expect

Community Story Circles – Ground our work in real voices and lived experience.

Advocacy Skill-Building – Learn to engage legislators, lead outreach, and organize locally.

Collective Action Planning – Mobilize around the top 3 statewide policy priorities shaped by North Carolinians.

Partner Spotlights & Next Steps – See how trusted local organizations are leading the charge.

Why It Matters

The COVID-19 pandemic revealed deep cracks in our state’s child care system. This summit is our call to rebuild — stronger, fairer, and rooted in community care. Together, we’re shaping a future where every child, family, and educator can thrive.
